At Bikram Yoga Southern Pines, we offer a variety of classes so that you can find the styles
which help you reach your fitness and well-being goals.

From hot yoga classes [Bikram] to not as hot [Bikram 60, Hatha Flow, Inferno Hot Pilates]
to warm yoga [Yin and Anuttara Raja], we've got something just for you!!

Bikram Yoga

Bikram Yoga is the original hot yoga. This therapeutic sequence of 26 yoga postures and 2 breathing exercises [developed by Bikram Choudhury] systematically works every part of the body. Bikram Yoga stimulates the organs, glands and nerves, moving fresh oxygenated blood to 100 percent of the body, restoring all systems to a healthy working order. In class you will combine the skills of concentration, patience, determination, and self-control, which will lead you to a powerful mind/body connection, increased mental clarity, and reduced stress. Suitable for all ability levels, no prior experience or flexibility is necessary. To help your body warm up and access the connective tissues while detoxing the body, the room heated to 105 degrees with 40% humidity. Class duration: 90 minutes.


Bikram 60

A shorter version of the classic 26 & 2. Expect less instruction and a cooler room [95-100 degrees]. Class duration: 60 minutes.


Bikram Yoga *with music

The classic 26 & 2 series, but with no instruction and set to music. Come play with us as we rock it out to some of our favorite tunes... From The Police to Gorillaz, I'm with Her to Arctic Monkeys, expect the unexpected with a new playlist every week!

This class is not appropriate for 1st time Bikram students/those unfamiliar with the series’ progression. Room temp: 95-100 degrees..


Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a passive style of yoga that incorporates longer holds [between 2 - 6 minutes] to release the fascia [connective tissues] and to quiet the mind. Yin is mainly done sitting or lying on your mat and is a complimentary practice to the more active styles of yang yoga (Bikram, Vinyasa) and for those who participate in high-energy workouts [Inferno Hot Pilates]. Practiced in a warm room, expect lots of slow stretching, deep breathing, and a focus on mind/body connection. Class duration: 60 minutes.


Inferno Hot Pilates

Inferno Hot Pilates is the art of controlled movements, which should look and feel like a workout (not a therapy). This fun, high-intensity, low-impact class will improve your flexibility, build strength and help you to develop control and endurance in your entire body. Emphasis in class is placed on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance. The exercises can be modified in difficulty from beginner to advanced. The room is heated to 95 degrees. Class duration: 60 minutes.



Anuttara Raja Yoga

Anuttara Raja Yoga. Unique to the Anuttara Shala and its certified teachers, this style [a cross between yin flow and nidra yoga] will leave the student extremely relaxed. It encompasses a gravitational surrender in yoga poses to access the connective tissue. As you let gravity pull at your fascia, you will sweat. It is perfect for beginners as well as advanced students. Practiced in a warm room.
90 minutes of bliss.


Hatha Flow Yoga

This class flow systematically, gently warms up the body and connective tissues. You move the body from a Pose, into a Counterpose, ending with the Repose, representing the three qualities of Nature so as to safely access the body and all systems. This practice is cardiovascular and graceful. Once your body is warmed up, your heart rate elevated, the class flow transforms from Hatha Yoga [the yoga of muscular engagement] into Anuttara Raja Yoga [the yoga of disengagement]. The best of both styles, you will leave feeling energized and completely de-stressed.

All levels. Practiced in a warm room. Class duration: 90 minutes.
